First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion for Children
Informational meetings: July 27th and August 10th at 10:30 a.m. in the parish hall. Calendars will be handed out.
Preparation for First Communion is a two-year process.
The standard preparation process at Holy Apostles is to complete one year of Family Faith Formation before beginning preparation for the sacraments. Parents may request to meet with the First Communion coordinator to assess their child’s understanding of the faith and readiness.
After the first year Family Faith Formation is completed, either at Holy Apostles or another Parish, students are then enrolled in Family Formation classes for a second year AND an additional once-a-month 1st Communion class. The reception of First Communion is held at the end of the second year. The First Communion classes meet on the first Saturday of each month from September to May.
Second through fifth-grade children may be enrolled in class to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. If your child is older than 5th grade, please contact Peggy for more information. Families must be registered parishioners of Holy Apostles to enroll in Faith Formation programs. If you aren’t yet registered as a parishioner, you can do so quickly and easily here.
All children needing First Communion and First Reconciliation must also be registered for Family Faith Formation.
TO REGISTER your child for First Communion, please contact Peggy Armstrong at 719-484-8726 or parmstrong@holyapostlescc.org
